Lost March

Illus. Masakazu Fukuda

BASIC STRATEGY

Use Professor Elm’s Lecture to setup Jumpluff, using Skiploom’s Floral Path to the Sky ability to send the Hoppip and Skiploom to the Lost Zone to boost Jumpluff’s Lost March attack. Further boost Lost March’s damage with Trumbeak’s Mountain Pass ability and by using Lost Blender to put extra Pokémon into the Lost Zone. Use Natu’s Lost March attack to hit for weakness against Psychic-weak Pokémon.

Blacephalon-GX

Illus. 5ban Graphics

Basic Strategy

Discard Fire Energy with Ultra Ball and Sightseer, then use Naganadel’s Charging Up ability to pull that energy back into play. Use Blacephalon-GX’s Mind Blown attack to take knockouts against many opposing Pokémon; Mind Blown does 50 damage for each Fire Energy you take from your Pokémon and put into the Lost Zone. Alternatively, take knockouts with Naganadel’s Turning Point attack, which does 80 damage plus 80 more if you have exactly three prize cards remaining. Flood your board with extra energy with Beast Ring, which lets you search your deck for two basic Energy cards and attach them to your Ultra Beast Pokémon if your opponent has 3 or 4 prize cards remaining.

White Kyurem

Illus. Hitoshi Ariga

BASIC STRATEGY

With Pheramosa, White Kyurem, and either Blitzle or Zebstrika in play, use manual attachments, Aqua Patch, and Arceus {*}’s Trinity Star attack to power up White Kyurem, which does 30 damage and lets you search your deck for up to 3 basic Energy cards and attach them to your Pokémon however you like. Keep a Wishful Baton on your powered-up White Kyurem (and have a spare White Kyurem ready) so that the energy cards attached to White Kyurem can moved to the fresh White Kyurem when the previous one is knocked out.

Illus. Naoki Saito

BASIC STRATEGY

Spread damage using Tapu Koko, Latios, and Shrine of Punishment. As possible, fill your bench with Passimian and take knockouts with Passimian’s Team Play attack which does 10 damage plus 30 more damage for each Passimian on your bench—and, for each of the other Passimian’s Power Huddle abilities in play, do 30 more damage to your opponent’s Active Evolution Pokémon using that same attack. After building up damage on your opponent’s side of play, use Counter Energy to power up and attack with Tapu Lele’s Magical Swap attack, which says, “Move any number of damage counters on your opponent's Pokémon to their other Pokémon in any way you like,” ultimately allowing you to sweep your opponent’s board with several knockouts on the same turn.

Buzzwole-GX / Lycanroc-GX

Illus. 5ban Graphics

BASIC STRATEGY

Use Jet Punch to set up early knockouts and use Knucle Impact through much of the rest of the game. Use either Absorption-GX to take big knockouts in the early game or Lycanroc-GX’s Dangerous Rogue-GX to do huge damage if your opponent has a full bench. When your opponent gets down to three or four Prize cards, use Beast Ring to rapidly power-up new Buzzwole as they are knocked out.

Zoroark-GX / Decidueye-GX / Alolan Ninetales-GX

Illus. 5ban Graphics

BASIC STRATEGY

Attack using Zoroark-GX’s Riotous Beating attack, which does 20 damage for each Pokémon you have in play. Meanwhile, pile on damage counters using Decidueye-GX’s Feather Arrow ability, which puts two damage counters on 1 of your opponent’s Pokémon. As available and advantageous, use Yveltal-GX’s Doom Count GX, which instantly knocks out the opponent’s Active Pokémon if it has exactly 4 damage counters on it. Use Alolan Ninetales-GX for its Mysterious Guidance ability, which lets you search for two Item cards when it evolves or for its Sublimation GX attack, which instantly knocks out an opposing Ultra Beast Pokémon.
